Long before joining Atlas Hartmann as a Territory Account Manager, Ilana Bruder was interested in understanding people. Growing up in Miami as one of four children in a close-knit Colombian and Polish family, she learned early how much relationships can shape the way people experience the world. Her childhood dream of becoming a therapist eventually led her to study Psychology and Statistics at the University of Central Florida, where that interest became the foundation for her professional life.
After college, Ilana worked in child psychology and clinical research focused on OCD and autism treatments. The work gave her a perspective that still influences her today. Beneath all the different circumstances people face, a common desire remains: to feel understood, supported, and connected.
That realization followed her into business.
Finding a Different Way to Help People
When Ilana entered the business world, she wasn’t leaving behind her interest in people. She was applying it somewhere new. Understanding what motivates someone, communicating effectively, and figuring out how to help them move forward became just as relevant in her new environment as they had been in psychology.
She joined Atlas Hartmann in March 2026 as a Territory Account Manager and quickly found a workplace where her approach to people felt at home. What stood out wasn’t simply the opportunity to build a career, but the people around her. Support, mentorship, and genuine encouragement have played a significant role in her experience, along with the sense of community created through experiences like team nights.
That environment has given Ilana room to grow her own team while strengthening the organizational and leadership skills she relies on every day.

Learning to Lead People, Not Just Manage Them
One of Ilana’s biggest lessons has been that leadership isn’t about expecting everyone to want the exact same things you do. People bring different motivations, goals, and circumstances to their work, and effective leadership requires understanding those differences.
As a result, her communication and problem-solving abilities have grown significantly. She has become more comfortable navigating challenges, both professionally and personally, while learning how to meet people where they are.
That ability to understand different circumstances comes from lessons Ilana learned long before she entered the workplace. Growing up as part of a close-knit family, she experienced challenges that taught her early that not everything can be controlled, but your response always matters.
Her father’s journey through addiction and recovery, along with having a brother who spent much of her childhood in and out of hospitals, taught Ilana independence and showed her that she was stronger than she realized. Watching her father overcome addiction also gave her a lesson she still carries with her today: take life “one day at a time.” Those experiences shaped her belief that where someone starts does not have to determine where they end up.

Building a Future on Her Own Terms
Ilana measures success differently than simply comparing herself with the people around her. Her competition is with her previous self, and she tries to identify something she can improve each day. She also credits scheduling as one of the habits that keeps her organized and focused.
Outside of work, she enjoys reading, trying new restaurants, visiting farmers markets, and hosting friends and family. For anyone spending time in the Fort Lauderdale area, she recommends the Yellow Green Farmers Market as a local favorite.
Looking ahead, Ilana’s immediate goal is to become an Assistant Manager. Her longer-term vision is even more personal. She wants to build her own business, support the people she loves, and build a life centered on health, happiness, and kindness.
For aspiring entrepreneurs, her advice reflects the mindset that has shaped her own journey: keep learning. Knowledge, she believes, is one thing no one can take away from you.
For Ilana, career growth isn’t simply about reaching the next title. It’s about becoming more capable, helping other people move forward, and building a future that reflects what matters most to her.
